Calibration & Verification

We calibrate and verify on operating systems without stopping the process. We work to ISO/OIML/GOST, use our own reference standards, issue Pro meter protocols, and provide Legal Shield for commissioning and contracts.

What you get from day one

  • 🧭 On‑site calibration/verification or via partner laboratories
  • 📜 Working methods & protocols (ISO/IEC 17025, OIML R 117, etc.)
  • 📊 Uncertainty evaluation and result traceability
  • 🛡️ Legal Shield: audit, support, and protection of the Client’s interests

Calibration and Verification of Measuring Instruments

Calibration and Verification of Measuring Instruments

🧭 General

Pro meter performs calibration and verification of measuring instruments on operating Measurement Systems under real process conditions. Directly on site with our engineers. We also carry out calibration and verification as part of outsourcing, technical metrological maintenance of enterprises, or under contracts with metrological laboratories.

For the work we mainly use our own reference measuring instruments with valid certificates. If necessary, we dismantle standby instruments and perform operations jointly in accredited laboratories.

We work both with typical (standard) instruments and channels and with non‑standard/unique equipment: we accept individual projects.

Basic calibration and verification methods come from the instrument manufacturer or regulatory documentation. On site we develop working applied methods with a detailed checklist for the entire calibration operation, taking into account local measurement conditions and the installed equipment.

We develop protocols for calibration and verification — for measuring instruments and for systems as a whole. Protocols are developed for various purposes and tasks:

  • Calibration and verification of instruments at the place of operation.
  • For initial, periodic, and unscheduled verification.
  • For scientific work and R&D.
  • State‑of‑the‑art methods for evaluating measurement accuracy. For this we have our own agreed and approved developments, including software‑defined uncertainty budget of the measurement system. New.
  • New methods for verification of parameter measurement channels. See Pro meter methods for increasing accuracy and reliability of measurements.

🧭 How we organise the work

For large measuring systems and process control (ASUTP) we perform calibration and verification of measuring instruments on site without interrupting the production process. For this we develop and agree an action programme with boundaries of responsibility. Examples — process control at Ventamonjaks, all transit custody‑transfer systems for oil, oil products, and gas at LatRosTrans, Latvijas Gāze.

We are ready to perform calibration and verification of instruments and equipment not related to the oil industry — for the food industry, medicine, woodworking (we have experience), and other sectors.

📈 What the customer gets

  • Full understanding and awareness of our actions. Protection of the Customer’s economic and legal interests. We offer flexible contract terms.
  • High‑quality execution of all works — we have 40+ years of experience on transit corridors.
  • We will really increase the efficiency of your production, not just in words. A competent approach to design, implementation, and technical maintenance. Our energy accounting systems have shown in figures 40% efficiency of maintenance and operation. This made it possible to operate the systems without overhaul more than four times longer — 18 years versus the average 4–5 years. Documented.

🛡️ Legal Shield by Pro meter

We include a legal “shield”: this is our strong side. Our Customers have not lost a single international court case. We conduct private, rapid, and metrological audits. We provide private consultations on metrology and on general issues of transit and equipment supply. We tell the Customer the truth. And what to do with this truth — the Customer knows themselves.

Standards and specific features of Pro meter calibration and verification

🔩 Pressure / Temperature

In our systems we verify the entire pressure/temperature measurement channel — physical quantity → sensor → transmitter → computing/controlling controller. In some cases also the human–machine interface.

This does not contradict OIML R 117 Recommendations. We will gladly provide you with sample protocols and explanations to the protocols. Extended versions of the protocols with the possibility of mathematical and metrological analysis are available on request. The protocols will be useful for field works, R&D, and building models of measurement systems.

🌊 Flow / Mass meters

This is also our strong side. We have potentially patentable technical solutions under development — awaiting their investors and patrons.

For developers and manufacturers we have unique feedback. A unique archive of the database.

🧮 Flow computers (flow computers/controllers)

  • We perform all operating modes of flow computers to confirm metrological characteristics.
  • In Pro meter protocols the algorithms for calculating mass, volume, density, and compressibility factors of hydrocarbons are fully implemented. We track the consistency of algorithms in the measuring instrument with algorithms in regional, national methods, and international regulatory documents.
  • For the phase‑measurement station Korneti a configuration of algorithms for flow computers was developed in accordance with ISO 5167. The algorithms were agreed and approved by the parties of the natural‑gas transit corridor.

🧪 Density / Laboratory densimeters /Flow density meters

We work with laboratory benchtop densimeters and verify inline densitometers under measurement conditions. As the reference — ARCO pressurised metal pycnometers.

Natural gas composition and density

Pro meter specialists have experience with the Emerson/Daniel gas chromatograph. There are developed, approved protocols for verification of the chromatograph using certified reference gases.

Other measurement types

  • Gas chromatographs;
  • Compact provers;
  • Proving tanks / volumetric measures;
  • Balances and weights;
  • Laboratory analytical and medical instruments;
  • Methods, standards.

For each measurement type we have accumulated our own know‑how and specifics. We are constantly evolving. You will find the full description in the

🤝 How we work (quick order)

  1. Request: answer the main questions in the questionnaire.
  2. Contract: refine the task, define the scope of work and boundaries of responsibility. Conclude the contract. If necessary, we travel for a meeting. We provide a contract prototype.
  3. Preparation: site access, safety, approval of the work order.
  4. Field works: for “field” work our engineers travel to facilities within the Baltic countries.
  5. Workflow — performing measurements → measurement protocols and uncertainty evaluation → certificates → report → acceptance certificate.
  6. Support: technical support under a separate agreement or stipulated in the contract for calibration/verification of measurement systems and process control systems.
  7. Metrological audit and consultations: agreed during a personal meeting.
