Pro meter Privacy Policy

1) Who we are

We are SIA “Pro meter” (Reg. No. LV41203036054, Ventspils, Latvia). Our website address is prometer.pro.

2) What data we collect and why

2.1 Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comment form, the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to Gravatar to check if you use the service; after a comment is approved, your avatar becomes publicly visible next to it.

2.2 Media

If you upload images, avoid EXIF metadata with location (GPS): other visitors can extract that data from downloads.

2.3 Cookies

  • Saving your name/email/website when commenting — up to 1 year (for convenience).
  • A temporary cookie on login to check cookie support — deleted when you close the browser.
  • Login cookies (up to 2 days) and screen options cookies (up to 1 year). “Remember Me” extends login to 2 weeks.
  • When publishing/editing a post, a service cookie with the post ID is set (expires after 1 day).

2.4 Embedded content

Videos, maps, posts, and other embeds behave as if you visited the source site: such sites may collect data, set cookies, and track interactions.

2.5 Technical logs and statistics

We may automatically receive minimal technical data (IP address, date/time, requested URL, referrer, browser info) for security, diagnostics, and basic statistics. Data is kept for a limited period and not used for profiling.

3) Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

  • Contract / pre-contract steps — responding to requests, managing an account.
  • Legitimate interests — site functionality, protection against spam and abuse.
  • Legal obligations — accounting and regulatory compliance.
  • Consent — marketing emails, non-essential cookies (you can withdraw at any time).

4) Who we share your data with

  • Anti-spam / security services (minimum data necessary).
  • When requesting a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.
  • Hosting providers and IT contractors under data-processing agreements.
  • Public authorities where required by law.

5) How long we retain your data

  • Comments and metadata — as long as needed to recognize and automatically approve follow-up comments.
  • Account data — stored in the user profile (you can view/edit/delete; username cannot be changed).
  • Technical logs — for a limited period sufficient for security and diagnostics.

6) Your rights (GDPR)

You can request an export of your personal data and ask us to erase it (except data we must keep by law).

7) Transfers outside the EEA

Where processors are outside the EEA, we apply appropriate safeguards (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses) or use providers covered by an adequacy decision.

8) Data security

We apply technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk (access control, software updates, backups, encrypted transport). Absolute security cannot be guaranteed on the internet, but we maintain a high level of protection.

9) Children

This site is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if notified, we will delete such data.

10) Contact for data requests

To exercise your data-subject rights (access/erasure/rectification/portability/objection), contact us via the Contact page on the site or by corporate email.

11) Where your data is sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam-detection service.

12) Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page; material changes will be highlighted.
